HUNTER SSA PRIMARY SWIMMING TRIALS 2024

Information for Schools and Zones

Date:     Tuesday 12th March 2024

Venue:  The Forum – University of Newcastle

Time:     Warm up is permitted in the main pool 8-8.30am – Events start at 9am

Management:   The Trials are under the control of Mrs Jocelyn Flook – Belair PS – Hunter SSA Convener

Entry:    Entry for all competitors and spectators is through the signposted Gate Area at the front of the Venue. Attendees are NOT TO ENTER through the Forum entrance. Pass outs will be issued for any spectators or competitors that need to come and go through the day. Cost (Must be paid on the day) will be $5.00 for competitors and $5 for spectators. Cash and card will be accepted at the gate.

Canteen:             Canteen facilities will be open at the venue. A BBQ will be set up on the walkway leading to the Pool and  other items will be available from the Café in the foyer of the Forum. No food or drink should be consumed in the pool area

Parking:               Please see the attached map that indicates free parking areas located close to the Forum. Much of the University is paid parking and fines are issued by the University for any breaches. The indicated parking areas are free. Alternatively, there are plenty of trains that pass through the University station, Warrabrook (5 min walk to the pool) as well as plenty of buses from all over Newcastle that transit through the University.

Entries:                Entries for this event can only be made through participation at Zone Carnivals. Zones are responsible for forwarding the top three advancers in each event to the Hunter Office in the correct Meet Manager format by Friday 1st March. NO ENTRIES will be accepted in any other format. The names of all students who have qualified for the Hunter Trial will be forwarded to schools on Tuesday 5th March. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED

Qualification:     Qualification for the Hunter Trial will occur through Zones. Each Zone will submit the first three placegetters and times in each event. The Hunter Convener will then determine, based on times, whether 8 or 16 competitors will be invited to attend the Hunter Trial.  Winning at Zone level no longer means an automatic entry to the Hunter Event. Entries for MULTI CLASS EVENTS will occur through progression from Zone to Hunter in exactly the same way as other competitors.

Swimwear:         Please note that there are rules in regard to the suitability of Swimwear that can be used at this event. As a general rule board shorts for boys and any revealing swimwear, bikinis or swimwear with a zip (Water Polo) cannot be worn. Please make students aware of these rules

State Carnival:   Students that are successful in recording placings at this Trial will qualify for the NSWPSSA Carnival in Homebush to be conducted April 11 & 12 (Week 11 Term 1). Students who cannot attend the state event should not compete in the Hunter Trial if all it means is that they are going to withdraw at a later stage and therefore deny another student an opportunity to attend the PSSA Carnival

Apparel:              Hunter Apparel will be for sale at this Carnival.

FORMS:

All students must complete the ELMPSSA Consent Form and Code of Conduct and hand to Mrs Sutton on the day. Students cannot take part in the trial if these notes are not provided. They must be signed by the school Principal.

All competitors and spectators must abide by the Hunter SSA code of conduct located on the Hunter applications and forms page.
