The Rugby Union Hunter Trial has been changed from 11th June 2026 to Monday 29th June 2026 due to a number of clashes with school and sport activities. The trial will go ahead on this date, no matter what.

TIME:
9:00 am – 2:30 pm (arrive at 8:30am for a 9:00am start)
- Players should only trial if they are willing to travel and compete at the NSW PSSA Rugby which will be held from Tuesday 18th August 2026 – Thursday 20th August 2026.
COST:
$10 cash (the exact amount would be appreciated) is to be paid to the convener on the day.
EQUIPMENT
- ELMPSSA students nominated by their school will be given a jersey to play in for the day.
- All players must wear a mouthguard and football boots when playing.
- Please bring your own water bottle (clearly labelled) and adequate sun protection.
- Please bring adequate food and refreshments. A canteen facility will also be available.
FORMAT OF TRIAL
- Teams are divided to take part in a tournament during the morning.
- Players will compete in at least 3 games.
- Skills sessions will be conducted to assist with the selection process during the day.
- The selectors chosen to watch all matches will include the Newcastle Hunter Rugby Union Development Officer.
- Selected players will be invited to participate in a final Possibles versus Probables match at a later date to be confirmed.
- Final selections are based on overall performances of players on the day.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Students who turn 13 in the current year are unable to trial.
- All students must complete the ELMPSSA PSSA Consent Note/Medical Form, Code of Conduct and Permission to play Rugby Union Consent form, and hand to the convener on the day. Students cannot take part in the trial if these notes are not provided. They must be signed by the school Principal. NO SIGNED NOTES = NO PLAY.
- All competitors and spectators must abide by the Hunter SSA code of conduct located on the Hunter applications and forms page.
- Any postponement will be announced on Hunter SSA website and the Hunter SSA Facebook page.
